February Events 2019

The Rams vs. The Patriots

Sunday, February 3rd

Although, at the Sequoians Super Bowl Party, it really doesn’t matter who’s playing!!  It’s always a fun time!  Once again Bill and Bev will host the Super Bowl at Bev’s house.

(In case this is your first time, Bev’s house is the grey and white 2 story just past the camp grounds.)

So come out to watch the game, the commercials, half time and share food and a good time with your fellow Sequoians.

Time:  Game usually starts at 3:30.  Come earlier so you can get your food prepared (or prepare it in the rec hall) and the football pools filled BEFORE the game.  Normally, Bev is running around trying to get the last squares filled before the game!  The pools are usually $.50 or $1 per square.  Occasionally, if there are enough interested, we do a $5 pool. (Please bring small bills as it is easier to make change!)

Arrival time:  2:30 on.

What to bring:  Your own beverages and something to share to eat.  This can be appetizers, chili, veggies, desserts, whatever you want.  Please bring your own beverages.  Also, small bills for the football pools.

Who can come:  All Sequoians are invited.  Guests are allowed, but only if you know them and vouch for them.  This is not open to outside visitors.
So, if you will be coming, please RSVP Bev that way we can have as many chairs as possible both upstairs and downstairs.  Also, if you know what you plan to bring to share, please let us know.  This might prevent too many duplicates of food.
Hope to see many of you there!
Bev & Bill

November Events 2018

THANKSGIVING AT SEQUOIANS

Saturday, November 17th 2018

THANKSGIVING at Sequoians! On Saturday, November 17, we celebrate Thanksgiving with our Sequoians’ friends and family.  Remember, this is the Saturday BEFORE the actual holiday.

This is a clothed event so bring your family and friends who may be curious about where you spend your time!   This is open to all members and their friends and families and is a great time to introduce Sequoians for your friends and family.

Please get your reservations and what you plan to bring to Bev by November 12th.  Reservations are needed so we make sure we have enough seating and food.  This is a planned dinner,  not a regular pot luck.  Dinner is set for 6 pm. (or shortly after due to the confusion!) so please plan accordingly!   And if you can’t make it, please let me know so I don’t “bug” you about it!

Please contact Bev at intodrgns@aol.com to let her know how many in your group AND what you will be bringing for dinner.  We need it all – hams, turkeys, potatoes & gravy, stuffing, green bean casseroles, vegetables, salads, desserts, etc.  And if you have something special that you like to do for Thanksgiving, that is welcome, too.  If you let me know, I can try to make sure that all we have isn’t potatoes!

Finally, we always collect food for our local food bank.  Please be as generous as you can.  If one can/box is all you can afford, then please bring that.  BUT if you can afford more, please bring it.  And please, NO GLASS, only cans and boxes.  Our local fire station is always impressed with the car load of food I bring to them after our Thanksgiving dinner.

And when you are out shopping, get those toys for our Toys for Tots drive for our Christmas/Holiday Party in December.  There will be more info about this soon.

September Events 2018

Nudes-in-the-Hall: Aerobic Yoga #2
Sunday, September 2nd  (12:00 – 1:00 p.m.)

Learn the very refreshing style of Aerobic Yoga that was created by  SzabolcsAtzel-Bethlen (called Saby by his students.)  Yoga alone is not aerobic.  Saby developed a non-impact method for yoga that combines yoga with stretching, breathing and a t’ai chi-like constant motion that improves health against heart disease.  Please note this is not traditional yoga.

Lance, a non-licensed practitioner of Aerobic Yoga, will present the course through the book, video and wall chart program especially designed for the individual at home.   The practice is safe; if you cannot reach a position, do the best you can and move through it to the next position.  “Movements first, poses later”

SIMPLICITY OF THE COURSE
One only needs to learn the choreography & poses of three salutations:
the Earth, the Sun, and the Moon.
COMPLEXITY OF CHOREOGRAPHY
Learning the dance-like movements between the poses is key to success.

WHAT TO BRING: A yoga mat or a towel.

JAMAICA  DAY
Saturday, September 22nd

RE: Jamaica Day

We will be up to decorate in the morning. The food and bar will be open
from 12N – 4PM. Music before, during and after of course. We do not run it
late so as not to conflict with the potluck as we want people hungry for
that. (and as usual, any leftover food we donate for that) There will be the Dirty Banana/Red Stripe Bar with Irie lunch available for purchase.

We again will be having this on the pool deck lounge above the hot tub. We
need all the tables and chairs cleared out and to have (3) folding tables
set up in the space ahead of time please. We also need the large, long
cooler cleaned and brought up there, in addition to (2) other coolers. If
some ice can be set aside to keep the beers cold as well as for the drinks,
that would be helpful.

We will not be up at the club until this day as Paul has not been well and
is presently under a doctor’s care due to his compromised immune system. He cannot be around anyone during this delicate time so as not to get exposed to anything and risk infection.

Side bar for Harriet: please let me know if both blenders we purchased are
in working order, and also advise how much and what type of rum and tequila (or margarita mix) are there so I know what to purchase. Please make sure we have a cash box with $100 in small bills.

We are very much looking forward to healthier days and fun in the sun with
our dear friends.

Hugs,

Cheryl
